


Coaching Improv: The Xs and Os of confidently leading a group
COURSE DESCRIPTION
An eight week intensive to prepare experienced improvisers for the basic ins and outs of coaching indie performers, practice groups, and Harold teams. Over the course of eight weeks, students will learn tools for:
Creating a rubric of what to look for from scene to scene
Basic exercises for the most common issues that come up with indie groups
Effectively and concisely communicating notes
Codifying a language and setting goals for teams
Encouraging positive group dynamics
Preparing for sensitive moments - micro aggressions, team dynamics, and interpersonal issues.
The first four weeks of the class will be a mix of lecture style conversations and on your feet improv work. For the latter four weeks, students will do supervised coaching sessions with indie improvisers.
Pre-requisites: Application only. Seven years improv experience. Registering for the class does not confirm enrollment. You will be asked to complete a questionnaire and then receive notification. Payment due on acceptance.
