Start Off with a Bang - A Workshop on Openings

Sale Price:$125.00 Original Price:$150.00

As improvisers, we spend a lot of time analyzing and improving scenes inspired by openings, but we don't spend a lot of time analyzing and improving openings themselves. And even though we SHOULD be able to turn even the crappiest opening into funny scenes, there's no denying that a great opening starts a team off with an advantage. So why not get that advantage as often as possible?!

In this workshop, we'll explore what kinds of ideas from an opening tend to inspire really fun, clear scenes — in general, and also for each of us personally. Then we'll reverse-engineer our openings to be packed with those kinds of ideas. Get ready to take your Living Rooms to new heights!

Workshops: Saturday 4pm-6pm (April 12, 19, 26, May 4)

Shows: Fridays 7pm (April 18, 25, May 3, 10)

Instructor: Celia Gurney

About a Celia:

Celia Gurney (she/her) is a UCB-trained improv instructor and coach who spent last year whipping up a little improv collective in Paris. Find out what else she’s been up to on Instagram/TikTok (@ceelia_later) or at celiagurney.com.
